These shoulder pauldrons were created using a plastic skeleton with aluminum foil as the base for the spikes. Over top, I
laid two layers of newspaper-strip papier mache. I then used celluclay to create a more durable, uniform surface. To smooth
this out, I alternated between sanding and adding layers of painter's gesso. The purple gems are mounted on Sculpey bases,
which were attached to the armour base with Gem-Tac glue. Gem-Tac was also used to create the raised stripe that overlaps
the gold sequins. The end product is extremely light, easy to wear, and has proved extremely durable despite many knocks on
doorframes and drops on hard floors.

Above are two pictures of the construction process. The top shows the piece of armour immediately after the Celluclay was
applied. The bottom is after all sanding was finished, the Sculpey bases for the gems were glued on, and the entire piece
was spray painted with white matte paint.
